The first project for which Parminder has provided the voice of a character in an animated feature. She supplies the vocal chords for Cassandra, a 'mystical Indian woman' who coaches a young Bruce Wayne in ancient methods of pain management.
The movie is split into six loosely linked episodes, each directed by highly respected exponents of the 'Anime' style. Parminder's character appears in the fifth segment, 'Working through Pain'.
Fans of the 'Dark Knight' and the anime style should enjoy this, but even those who are indifferent to the genre can marvel at the craft and artistry with which the cityscapes and panoramic backgrounds are realized.
Gotham Knight was released to the US market in region 1 DVD/Blu Ray format on July 8th 2008 as a single disc package or a two disc DVD special edition.
A Region 2 release for the European market followed on July 14th.
Please note that these discs will only play on region 2 or PAL compatible multi-region players.

Ella Enchanted

|
|
|
|
A fairy-tale adventure in which the eponymous heroine falls victim to a curse which compels her to do everything she is asked, regardless of the source of the request.
Parminder plays best friend to Anne Hathaway's Ella, though for Mindi fans her limited amount of screen time will be a disappointment. Still, good family entertainment and 'our gal does get to participate in the all singing, all dancing finale.
A successful theatrical release preceded the DVD set which is widely available in multiple regional formats.

Second Generation

Despite sharing with 'Bend It Like Beckham' the themes of struggling to find expression and identity outside of the constraints of a traditional family background, Second Generation provided Parminder with an ideal vehicle to shed the 'pony tailed teenager image' for a more mature and hard edged role.
A complex and layered TV drama driven by themes and language of a significantly more adult nature, the production was originally aired in two parts on Channel Four in the UK on September 14th and 15th 2003.
Mindi portrays Heere Sharma, the youngest of three daughters whose ailing father (Om Puri) has ostracised her from the family for pursuing a relationship with white music journalist Jack (Danny Dyer).
The plotline has echoes of Shakespeare's King Lear as Heere becomes aware that her apparently dutiful elder siblings are secretly conspiring against their father in an attempt to take control of his business.
Fire up your multi-region player as the DVD version is only available in Region One format, but is a must see for Mindi fans.

Parminder's first 'post Beckham' project, a contemporary telling of Shakespeare's complex tale of love, jealousy and confused identity broadcast on Channel 4 in the UK on March 5th 2003.
A strong and eclectic cast drawn from British TV and theatre and an original and visually arresting staging brought plaudits from both connoisseurs of 'The Bard' and the wider audience. Though Mindi had worked extensively in London and provincial theatre, this represents her first foray into the world of England’s greatest playwright. The IMBD forum for this production gives a flavour of the overwhelmingly positive reaction with a number of commentators moved to single out Parminder's performance as Viola for particular praise.
Twelfth Night was released in Region 2 DVD format by Channel 4 as part of a package intended as an educational resource for drama and media students.
The two disc set features the complete play plus a four part documentary detailing the film's production process. The second disc includes interviews with cast members and the production team, including contributions from Parminder. It provides a fascinating insight into the whole process of TV production.
The package is still available from the Channel 4 shop, albeit with a rather hefty £32.90 asking price.
A Region One version of this film can be purchased as part of a two disc package which includes a production of ‘Macbeth’, another fine Shakespearian commission for Channel 4.
